EYELID REJUVENATION SURGERY (BLEPHAROPLASTY)

“The eyes are the window to the soul.” Your eyes are what others notice first about you—and you want them to think “What beautiful eyes!” Eyelid rejuvenation surgery, or a blepharoplasty, can help you get that reaction, especially if…

  • Your upper lids have become hooded, heavy, and sagging—and may even obstruct your vision.
  • The skin beneath your eyes is wrinkled and has lost its smoothness.
  • You have developed “basset hound eyes” as your eyes droop and the whites beginto show.
  • Makeup no longer hides the “bags” or bulging pouches under your eyes.
  • People ask if you’re tired—and you’re not!

Whatever the reason for deciding to have a blepharoplasty, “getting your eyes done” will help you look more youthful, vibrant, and attractive with very little down time. There are two versions of a blepharoplasy. Just getting the lower eyelid rejuvenated is an easy procedure that is virtually undetectable after it heals. An incision is made along the line of the lower lashes, or directly below the pink part, or conjuctiva. If you have a large pouch under your eye, excess skin and fat is removed. The area is made smooth and firm again. The incision is closed with tiny sutures. It will be impossible, or nearly impossible, to see any scars. The results are often spectacular. An upper blepharoplasty addresses problems of the upper lid. The skin on your upper lids, right up to your eyebrow, can sag so badly it may even hinder your peripheral vision. (If it’s bad enough, you might even qualify for health insurance coverage.) For an upper blepharoplasty, an incision is made in the fold of the lid, and excess skin and/or fat is removed. Again very tiny stitches close the incision. Most patients choose to do both upper and lower lids at the same time.Dr. Collini performs eyelid rejuvenation in the privacy and comfort of our state- of-the-art surgery center. It may be done with local anesthesia only, but most patients choose intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. That way you are placed in a total state of relaxation and unable to feel anything during the surgery. The operation usually takes 11⁄2 hours to perform from start to finish. You will go home shortly afterward. To visualize how eyelid rejuvenation surgery would affect the way you look, look through the Before and After pictures below. Full Gallery.
