A flatter, firmer tummy…no more sag…no more stretch marks… an abdominoplasty may be right for you if…
- You are unhappy with your stomach area and exercise just can’t fix it.
- You have lost weight and your belly now has wrinkled, loose, or flabby skin.
- Pregnancy has left you with flabby skin on your belly and unattractive stretch marks. (A tummy tuck is one part of a “Mommy Makeover.” Breast augmentation is the other.)
- You feel embarrassed about your appearance, which deters your desire to be intimate with a partner, influences what you wear, and most of all, impacts how you feel about yourself.
Whatever the reason for deciding to have a tummy tuck, this surgery can have dramatic, even life-changing results.
There are two variations of a tummy tuck. In a mini or modified abdominoplasty, an incision is made at the level of the pubic hair, the abdominal muscles are tightened to permanently flatten the lower belly, and all excess skin and fat are removed. The belly button has no stitches around it. The surgery is done under local anesthesia with sedation in our state-of-the-art surgical center, takes about 2-3 hours to complete, and you go home soon afterwards.
A full or complete abdominoplasty is for patients who require maximum correction. A slightly longer incision is made above the pubic hair; the muscles are tightened; excess skin and fat are removed. The belly button has stitches around it because it is brought out through a new skin opening in the abdominal wall. This operation is performed under local anesthesia with sedation in our surgical center, takes about 3-4 hours to complete, and you recover overnight in our extended care facility located adjacently to The Renaissance Center.
