Body / Skin Lift and Tightening

What is a skin lift and tightening procedure?

Some patients require both liposuction and a skin lift. The decision to perform a skin lift is determined when there is too much laxity in the skin and skin retraction from liposuction isn’t enough.

Am I a candidate for a skin lift and tightening procedure?

You may be considered a good candidate if your answer is yes to any of the following questions:

  • Are you aging and have fat on your arms that swing when you “wave”?
  • Your breasts have lost volume after having children?
  • You have loose or sagging skin on your face and neck?
  • You have rolls under your bra area?
  • You have baggy skin above your knees?
  • Your buttocks sag right into your thighs without definition?
  • Your skin puddles above your knees, waist or arms?

What are the results?

The results can include tighter skin in the area that was lifted, reduced cellulite, and smoother skin. Besides tightening, the figure can appear shapelier without pre-existing rolls and enough skin removal may cause a drop in clothing size.

What can I expect?

Skin Tightening surgeries are more challenging to recover from than other cosmetic procedures.  This is due to the usual length of incision required to produce the desired result of eliminating “hanging and loose” skin.  These long incisions require care with regarding to cleansing, bandaging and activity.  Patients DO get through the recovery with a few challenges, but are happy that they are fitting in and wearing their clothes better than ever!  Making the choice to undergo skin tightening surgeries is a major decision. There are trade-offs: scars vs smoother/tighter skin!  Our patients say they had NO choice…and it’s worth it!

What are my options?

  • Thighs – Thighplasty or Thigh Lift
  • Arms – Brachioplasty or Arm Lift; Mini-Arm Lift
  • Buttocks – Buttockplasty or Butt Lift via Gluteal lift or Posterior Belt Lipectomy
  • Abdomen – Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck
  • Breasts – Mastopexy or Breast Lift
  • Back/Bra Line – Posterior Upper Back Lipectomy

I don’t think I could ever thank Dr. Collini and his staff enough for all their hard work and dedication. After a major weight loss of about 85 pounds, I spent thousands of dollars on firming creams, body contouring, wraps, etc. Not only did I waste a lot of money, but a lot of time too. I had an extreme fear of cosmetic surgery scars. I came to Dr. Collini asking him to take care of my loose skin and saggy body but leave behind NO SCARS. He agreed politely to do just as I wished but also assured me that I would not be happy with those results. He gave me a few suggestions on what he can do to make me happy. I went home and spent countless hours researching his suggestions and ideas. I stood in the mirror trying to envision how my new body would look. I became very excited and scheduled my Tummy Tuck, Thighplasty, Brachioplasty, breast implants and fat transfer to cheeks. (By the way, Dr. Collini only suggested Tummy Tuck and Brachioplasty procedures, I included the rest.) I also get Botox and Sclerotherapy frequently. I must admit that I can’t believe I feared the scars at one point. I would rather look at my “Hard Earned Scars” than loose skin any day. Which by the way, my scars are fading nicely and soon will be unnoticeable. I am a 35 year old mother of three boys. I have struggled with weight all my life and I never had that “Dream Body”. Thanks to my hard work with my weight loss and Dr Collini’s “Expertise” I now have that “Dream Body”!

….” I always had “back fat” or back rolls under my bikini top…but as I got older and had my children, gravity took over and the rolls became lower and lower. It started to bother me when I was standing at work, I could feel the rolls touching my lower back. I could wipe the sweat that would accumulate in that area and was worried about getting a fungal infection. I was always “tucking” my rolls under my sports bra ! I went to Dr. Collini to discuss liposuction. Unfortunately, I found out that this was not fat, but loose skin that could only be corrected by cutting it off! This was a lot to think about, because I would now have a large scar on my back. I decided the scar was worth having a smooth back! After the surgery, I was so happy I did it!!! People kept asking me if I lost weight and I hadn’t! I do have a scar that creates challenges with bathing suits, but my clothes lay so much better on my upper body! Overall, the trade-off was worth it! Scar vs feeling better in clothes and having clothes lay smoother? – Definitely worth it! Rachel, a happy patient
