What is liposuction?
Liposuction is the removal of fat from various parts of the body using the tumescent technique with a small suction tube. The tube is placed through a very small incision (¼ inch) which is placed in an inconspicuous, hidden spot such as the stomach button or buttock fold. Almost any area of the body can
be treated with liposuction. However, the most common areas include the stomach, outer thighs, buttocks, inner thighs, inner knees, calves, ankles, love handles, upper arms, and neck/chin. Liposuction is best when used as a contouring technique but can also be used for volume reduction.
Am I a candidate for a liposuction procedure?
You may be considered a good candidate if your answer is yes to any of the following questions:
● Stubborn fat and cellulite will not budge even with diet and exercise?
● Feeling disproportionate or like one area of your body is larger than the rest?
● Do you just need to “jump-start” weight loss?
● Do you want to remove excess fat from your body?
● Do you want to take fat from one area and put it somewhere else?
What are the results?
Liposuction removes fat volume, consequently reducing one’s clothing size. Liposuction also contours the body by removing stubborn bulges while leaving behind a smoother outline of waist, hips and thighs.
What can I expect?
Some patients feel sore and slow to move post large volume liposuction. However, once a quick peek in the mirror reveals a curvier new physique, patients quickly forget any post-op discomfort. Dr. Collini recommends compression garments be worn for three weeks post procedure to help tighten and mold the skin, reduce swelling and support any sore tissue. Patients usually recover for one week, some sooner, and some a little longer. Resuming physical activity can occur as soon as the patient feels comfortable.
What are my options?
Almost any area of the body can be treated with liposuction, but the most common areas are the tummy, saddle bags (outer thighs), buttocks, inner thighs, inner knees, calves, ankles, love handles, upper arms and double chin (neck). Other forms of fat reduction include Cool Sculpting and Emsculpt Lasers. Discussion occurs at the time of time of consultation
