Every patient has different recovery experiences with every procedure.  Procedures can range from injections to lasers to surgery. Generally, recovery can include slight pain, discomfort, swelling, bruising, redness.

  • Injectables:
    • Recovering from injectables is most tolerable.  There is mild swelling and redness that dissipates within a few days.  If bruising occurs, we provide our patients with Vitamin K cream to reduce discoloration time by half.  Bruises can last up to three weeks, but with Vitamin K cream, the bruising resolves within 1-1.5 weeks.
  • Lasers:
    • Laser recovery varies depending on the type of laser and the desired results.  The more aggressive the treatment the more recovery required.  The Lasers treatments we perform exhibit redness, swelling and peeling that can last one day to two weeks.
  • Surgery:
    • Patients undergoing surgical recovery can experience discomfort and slight pain the first three days post procedure.  We do prescribe pain relief for these few days which usually takes care of any discomfort.
    • Bruising lasts up to three weeks; but can be reduced to 1.5 weeks with the use of Vitamin K cream.
    • Although we tell our patients they can be out and about as they feel ready, we remind them that incisions take up to 6 weeks to heal and to be careful not to “overdo” any activity.
    • Exercise must be discussed with Dr. Collini before resuming.

*** Be reminded that recovery time does not equate with your final result.  Although patients look very good within the month, results keep improving up to a year and incisions improve up to two years.

All surgeries are different; your surgeon will inform you of the risks involved in your specific surgery. However, anytime that you undergo surgery, you can risk nerve damage, infection, aneurysm, allergic reaction, or death.
